What Sets Element Apart?
All chiropractors are unique and have individualized skill sets, which means finding the right chiropractor can be difficult. Dr. Sam believes that it is important to find what works for YOU. She has completed training in a variety of techniques to ensure she has something to fit your specific needs.
Extremity Adjusting
In addition to adjusting the bones that make up the spine, Dr. Sam has completed in-depth training to be able to specifically adjust the bones in your extremities (hands, feet, shoulders, knees, hips, etc…) Though she finds that many problems are resolved by adjusting the spine first, in some cases (especially in athletes) addressing the alignment of the extremities is necessary to completely restore function.
RockTape
RockTape (Kinesiotape) is a form of therapeutic taping designed to mimic the qualities of the skin. Unlike traditional athletic tapes, RockTape allows for normal range of motion and helps to stabilize the involved structures without being restrictive, while also increasing blood flow to the area which promotes tissue healing. RockTape is especially helpful to aid in joint stability, muscle dysfunction, correcting biomechanics and injury rehabilitation.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
Soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) often need to be addressed in cases of acute/chronic pain and dysfunction. Over time due to repetitive actions, trauma, poor biomechanics and poor posture, soft tissues will become inflammed and form adhesions and scar tissue which cause pain and dysfunction. IASTM utilizes a tool as opposed to the practitioner’s hands to break up adhesions and restore blood flow to the injured area.
Cranial Work
Many people do not know that the skull (cranium) is made up of several bones. These bones should be mobile and move with the body’s natural respiratory pump. Cranial work is gentle, hands-on work that specifically addresses the bones of the skull and aims to align them properly.
Pregnancy & Pediatrics
Through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) Dr. Sam has completed specific training in pediatric adjusting and perinatal care. She is capable of working with children in all stages of development. She has also completed certification in the Webster Protocol which is most notably used to safely and effectively treat women throughout pregnancy.
Rehabilitation Exercises
Dr. Sam has a passion for athletes. Her love for sports and athletes inspired her to complete a Masters in Sports Science & Rehabilitation while completing her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She recognizes the importance of not only correcting misalignments and addressing soft tissue imbalances, but in taking that a step further to strengthen and stabilize supporting structures to improve overall function and prevent injury.
